Four Points Mom Hits Up The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Four Points Mom Hits Up The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

It’s my favorite time of the year for shopping … the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has FINALLY arrived for cardholders!

Christina, I am right there with you.  I woke up bright and early yesterday morning to go online and check out the sale.  If you’re like me, you received the catalog in the mail a few weeks ago.  However, did you know the catalog only has a small portion of the actual items on sale during the Anniversary Sale?  I was blown away by all of the new items that were listed.  One of my friends mentioned she didn’t really like anything in the catalog so she wasn’t going to check it out.  If you’re like her, you’re not alone.  I also found myself struggling to find things in my price range in the catalog.  But the sale has so much more!

I’m going to be highlighting some of my favorites over the next week or so.  Last year I did a post on my favorites for moms and a post on my favorites for kids.  I’m going to do that again, but today I’m going to share with you what I actually bought yesterday in the store.  I must add that I’m extremely lucky that my birthday is a week before the sale starts because you better believe that every dime I received from family was saved up for this shopping trip.  Plus, my husband has finally learned my love language and let me choose out a couple birthday gifts from the kids and him during the sale.  Woohoo!  🙂

What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a limited sale, offering brand-new fall styles at seriously discounted prices, from top brands for women, men, kids and home.  The Anniversary Sale Early Access is offered to Nordstrom Credit/ Debit Cardholders until July 20 so they can exclusively shop the sale before everyone else.  Or, you can just sign up for Nordstrom Rewards which allows you to earn points with your purchases at a slower rate (but you won’t have early access to the sale).  You can sign up for a card or the Nordstrom Rewards program here.  As soon as you sign up for Nordstrom Rewards, you receive a $20 note.  If you’re like me and don’t want another credit card, you can do the debit card (which links directly to your checking account) and that way you can take advantage of all sales and receive rewards for your shopping.  Just this morning I received an email that I have a $60 note to apply to my next shopping trip.  Don’t mind if I do …

Four Points Mom Hits Up the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Before I tell you all about my purchases, I want to make sure you understand that I NEVER spend this much shopping for myself or anyone for that matter.  NEVER.  As I mentioned above, I budget and plan for this sale because I know that I can take advantage of one-time discounts on necessary and annual purchases (like my kids’ shoes for the upcoming school year, holiday gifts for friends and family, bras, etc … ).  And of course I do treat myself to some fun stuff too!  To see more of my favorite kids purchases, check out my post, Four Points Mom Shops Kids at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

So what did I buy yesterday?

Shoes

Steve Madden Petra Open Side Bootie

Sale Price: $79.90

After Sale: $119.95

These boots were in the catalog and were one of the first things I knew I wanted to try on when I arrived in the store yesterday.  I don’t know about you, but I love buying boots.  I have way too many pairs, so I told myself I could only get something that was very different than those I already have.  These fit the bill.

I love the size of the heel and they fit true to size.  That being said, I’m taking the pair I brought home back because when I got home I noticed the size of the boots were already starting to look damaged.  I tried to capture it in this photo, and I didn’t do a great job.  Along the seam, the leather has already started flaking off.  I’m hoping this is just a damaged one and this happened because it was improperly packaged.  I’m going to try to exchange them today and my fingers are crossed that this just isn’t due to the unique snake-skin appearance of the leather.

Ugg Dakota Bow Slipper

Sale Price: $79.90

After Sale: $119.95

It might have been 100-degrees outside yesterday, but you better believe I was walking around my house in my new Ugg slippers.  😉  I have wanted a pair of these slippers for years, but I just couldn’t justify spending so much on slippers.  I finally splurged on them!  I work from home and usually sit at my desk with a pair of comfy old Ugg boots and a blanket wrapped around me.  Now I finally have real slippers.

I read online that these slippers ran small so I was hesitant to follow the saleslady’s advice to stick with my normal size 8.  However, after wearing them all day yesterday I’m happy I listened to her.  They have already loosened up a bit and fit great.

Native Shoes Juniper Bling Glitter Perforated Mary Jane

Sale Price: $29.90

After Sale: $45.00

Surprise surprise, I bought another pair of Natives for my kiddos.  I just added it up and I believe this is the seventh pair of Natives my kids have worn.  I know I’ve raved about Natives before, but they are incredible.  The kids can put them on themselves at a young age, they are easy to clean (I use a magic eraser on them every few weeks), they are waterproof, and they don’t smell.  Yep, we’re having to think of that with a growing boy in the house …  The kids wear these pretty much every day in the summer.  Typically I buy a pair of these in early spring and then another pair now for the upcoming school year.  Foster especially loves his glow-in-the-dark bright green pair.  Parker can still fit into her pink ones, but I think these sparkly blue ones will last us through the winter and will look cute with tights.

Nike Flex Contact Running Shoe

Sale Price: $32.25 – $39.75

After Sale: $43.00 – $53.00

I’m not a huge fan of spending over $50 on shoes for kids, so I was excited to score these Nikes for Foster.  He liked the way they fit, but he was not a fan of the color.  So, these are going back.  There are a few other Nikes in kids sizes, but the only colors available for boys are grey, black, and grey with a little blue.  I wish they came in brighter colors.  I’m heading back to today and will update you guys if we find something else that Foster loves instead.

Jewelry

Kendra Scott Miku Drop Earrings

Handbags

Ted Baker Leather Backpack

 Sale Price: $212.90

After Sale: $319.00

The catalog had a few backpack purses that I didn’t love and I was bummed because I’ve been looking for one.  Well, I randomly saw this Ted Baker Backpack yesterday and grabbed it.

I love the size of it and the rose gold details on the straps.

I can’t wait to use it!

I also got this super cute fedora for our upcoming vacation, but I can’t find it online.

Check out the sale table at the Barton Creek Mall Nordstrom for it – it was only $17!  There area several other similar styles on sale too!

Clothing

Caslon Lightweight Colorblock Cotton Tee

Sale Price: $19.90

After Sale: $29.00

This shirt is so soft and will be super cute this fall and winter.  I love Caslon tops, and I might even pick up another since it’s under $20!  You can check out other colors here.

The North Face Aconcagua Down Vest

Sale Price: $62.90 – $68.90

After Sale: $99.00

Remember how I mentioned that I’d be wearing the Caslon top through the winter.  Look how cute it will be under my new vest.  I am a huge fan of puffy vests in the winter.  You can throw on a vest even when you’re feeling a bit bloated from your poor holiday eating habits.  Wait … is that just me?

The North Face Slacker Hooded Jacket

Sale Price: $83.90

After Sale: $120.00

Okay, I’m sad to say I did not love this jacket once I tried it on at home.  In the store, I really liked how the side opened up at the bottom.  I also liked how the fabric wasn’t too thick.  It would be a perfect jacket to throw on over workout clothes in the fall and winter.

However, it just wasn’t flattering at all.  I even bought a size small which is smaller than I typically go in The North Face outerwear.  If you are tall and thin, this will probably look great on you.  On me, though, it doesn’t work.  Back it goes.  🙁

Madewell Verse Tie Back Top

Sale Price: $32.90

After Sale: $49.50

This top is so cute!  I don’t typically wear orange, but I liked the pinkish-orange tint.  Plus, now that high waist jeans are back in style, this top will perfectly suit those jeans.  The tie in the back is also a nice touch.  Check out better photos here.

Spanx Camo Faux Leather Leggings

Sale Price: $72.90

After Sale: $110.00

This just might be my favorite purchase from yesterday.  I’ve never tried on Spanx leggings before, and boy are they fantastic.  They suck in at all the right places.  Plus, the camo pattern is really cool.  You might see me wearing these every day … lol.  They even have them in plus sizes too.

Natori Conform Underwire Full Fit Contour Bra

Sale Price: $46.90

After Sale: $70.00

Last year someone recommended I check out Natori bras, and I am a convert now.  Wow – they are so comfortable and provide great support.  I have this Natori bra and wanted to take advantage of the Anniversary Sale price (hello $24 savings!) and I fell in love with this style too.  And just in case you’re amazed at how great I look in this photo … no, I didn’t do a lingerie photo shoot.  Ha ha.  I hope you can tell that the assumed confusion was sarcasm.

Halogen Seamless Bandeau

Sale Price: $11.90

After Sale: $19.00

Since I’m much more focused on comfort these days, I have not bought as many tops that require strapless bras.  And, I mostly avoid those dresses and tops in my closet because I dread my uncomfortable strapless bras I already have.  Bingo.  $12 gets you a super comfortable strapless bra.  Now, is there a ton of support?  Not really.  However, there are inserts and the bra keeps everything in the general region you’d like it to stay.  😉

Voluspa Maison Blanc Mini Candles and Volcano Capri Blue Candle

Voluspa Maison Blanc Mini Candles Sale Price: $15.90
Voluspa Maison Blanc After Sale: $24.00

I love the smell and look of Voluspa candles, and this mini pack of three is a great deal.  These are great gifts for friends and teachers!  Also, I snagged the Volcano Capri Blue Candle at the Barton Creek location yesterday for $19.90 each.  They are normally $30.  However, I can’t find them online.  Run to the store to grab one!

Nordstrom at Home Gold Rim Vase

Sale Price: $25.90
After Sale: $39.00

This vase is so pretty you guys!  I love the gold detail at the top, and the size of it make it versatile to place around the house.  I’m still brainstorming what I want to place inside it as a filler, but I threw this single stem in to give you an idea.  You’d obviously want to put a few more together in the vase.

I’m thinking a need some fall foliage ideas.  A trip to Michael’s might be on my agenda soon.

There are TONS of other great things in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  I’ll be back with more hot items next week.  Stay tuned!
