Friday Favorites with Hat Creek Burger Company (6-29-18)

We did it!  We made it through another week of summer (and for those of us with kids at home that’s really saying something).  Whether you were shuttling kids to summer camp or VBS or you’ve been cruising online trying to find fun activities each day for your kids, I know you’re excited it’s Friday.

In case you’re new around here, I love throwing together a Friday Favorites blog post.  These are totally random slices of favorites from the past week or so.  Here’s a link to my last Friday Favorites to give you some back story.  You can also search for Friday Favorites in the top menu to find more of these posts.

And I’m very excited to let you know that I have ANOTHER giveaway for you!  Remember – this is the summer of giveaways!  I haven’t forgotten about you.  Keep reading to find out how you can win $50 to Hat Creek Burger Company.  Yep, you read that right.  $50!

Let’s jump right in to some of my favorites from the past couple weeks.

We survived swim team season!

River Place Swim Season

I’m going to be honest with you and tell you this swim season was tough.  On Foster.  On his coaches.  On me.  Ha.  Daily practices are no joke!  Foster really enjoys swimming, but he is still a five-year-old boy.  Sometimes it’s difficult for five-year-old boys (or at least this one) to focus for 30 minutes while he’s swimming next to his friends.

And we asked him to do that pretty much every day for two months.

Swim Team Ipad

Overall, he enjoyed the season.  This has been our first year with organized sports (soccer, t-ball, and now swim), and it’s just incredible to watch these young kids improve every week.

Foster and Doss

We are so proud of Foster for focusing on his strokes and improving so much this year.  He cut his time in half.

There might have been several incentives thrown in along the way to help get that focus in check, but it worked.  🙂  Plus, before his last race I looked over and saw this.

Sweet boy was praying on his own.  It just doesn’t get much better than that!

Birthday Party Fun at Catch Air

Catch Air North Austin

My kids have been to Catch Air a few times, but this was my first time taking them.  I thought it was an incredible indoor place space for kids!  Sorry for the vertical video but I was posting Instagram stories. 🙂

Catch Air is located at Anderson Mill and 183 which means it’s about 20 – 25 minutes from us in the Four Points area.  There’s a separated (yet not closed-off space for toddlers) and a ton of options for bigger kids.

We were there for Foster’s friend Noah’s birthday party and the party setup was great.  Noah’s mom, Jane, told me it was the easiest party and the staff there did everything.  She just showed up with balloons and some food.  You can’t beat that.

Plus, the birthday boy got his own dance party!

My favorite things about Catch Air:

  • It was super clean when we visited.
  • Parents have tons of places to sit and easily view their children all over the facility.
  • There are several different types of play structures (slides, air guns, bounce house, climbing structures, etc.) and your kids won’t get bored too quickly … if ever!

I have heard that Catch Air can get VERY busy.  We went on a Friday at noon and it was definitely manageable.  Maybe the afternoons get a bit hectic, but that wasn’t our experience last week.

The Hill Country Galleria Splash Pad

Hill Country Galleria Splash Pad

Earlier this week I surprised Foster with a play date with his BFF from school, Reed.  After picking him up from school we headed over to the Hill Country Galleria’s splash pad for an hour of fun.

When we visited, the neighboring green lawn was blocked off so it actually helped me corral the kids a bit.  I have a feeling it was only blocked off this week to get the grass in perfect shape for their big 4th of July Celebration next week.

This little splash pad is perfect for a short period of splash fun.  As you can see, it’s not a huge space.  But the kids were able to have tons of fun running around for an hour.  Plus, you can couple it with a trip to the Bee Cave library, a bit of shopping, Barnes & Noble (read why I love stopping by Barnes & Noble with the kids here), and Amy’s Ice Cream!  Can you guess which extra stop we chose that day?

This Amy’s Ice Cream location is super cute and has tons of indoor seating.

Plus, there’s a nice outdoor space too.

I recommend you add Hill Country Galleria’s splash pad to your list this summer.

Magic Beads Fun!

You might have seen my Instagram and Facebook posts this week about magic beads.

Magic Beads are the best $12 I’ve spent all year.

Magic Water Beads in Container

I actually bought them last summer and wrote an entire post on them because we loved them that much.
