Friday Favorites (4-12-19)

Friday Favorites (4-12-19)

I don’t know about you but the month of April is just flying by for me.

I’ve got quite some catch up to do, so let’s get to some random tidbits from the past several weeks.  In case you’re new around here (or have forgotten due to the crazy lapse in pasts these past few months), Friday Favorites posts are totally random slices of favorites.  Here’s a link to my last Friday Favorites to give you some back story.  You can also search for Friday Favorites in the top menu to find more of these posts.

Guess who is a stay-at-home mom now?

Yes, that would be me.  I’m so excited for this new chapter in my life.  After 11 years with Praesidium, it was bittersweet to say goodbye to colleagues and clients.  However, the future looks pretty bright for me and my family.  It’s so cliche, but I’ll never get these sweet years back.

And they are so sweet!

Plus, it’s been two weeks now and I’m not even close to accomplishing all of those little tasks I’ve been putting off until I was able to stay at home with the kids.

This also means that Four Points Mom is back in full swing.  I enjoy working on the blog and updating my Four Points Mom social media accounts, but I found it too difficult to sustain while maintaining my career, household, and so on.  I’m thrilled I can finally devote some time to it without feeling like I’m dropping the ball elsewhere.  I already have exciting new partnerships in the works including some new giveaways.  Stay tuned!  And, yes, I’m going to catch you up on my reading.  Four Points Mom & Books will be back next week!

So Much To Recap!  These past few months we have travelled the world!  Well, not really the world, but it certainly felt like it.

We skied Park City.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous!

I even managed to lose my phone after chasing Foster through the trees at one point.  Would you believe that we were able to find it using Find My Phone the next day?  And it worked!  Isn’t that crazy?

We also had an amazing trip to Zihuatanejo.

Zihuatanejo blew me away.  I didn’t expect to love the town nearly as much as I did.  It was so cute and not at all commercialized.

You can walk everywhere and the beaches were gorgeous.

We enjoyed a lovely family reunion with my husband’s family which was WAY overdue.  🙂

We all had a blast and many have already planned trips back next year.

We Rodeo-ed.

The wristband special at the Rodeo Carnival was a great deal!

We’ve never ridden so many carnival rides …

We also went to SeaWorld.

With all of the controversy out there about SeaWorld, I didn’t know how to feel about our visit beforehand.  We really had a blast though.  I won these tickets in the silent auction at the River Place Elementary School Ignite! Gala last year and the expiration date was quickly approaching.

They are phasing out the shows with the killer whales (for very good reasons), but it truly is a unique experience.  My husband would rather see them in the wild (and regularly vocalized this during the trip), but for now the show at SeaWorld fills that void.

The kids loved the huge Sesame Street Bay of Play the most.

There you’ll find play structures, kid-friendly rides, and a huge splash pad.

On the day we went, it was a little too chilly to fully enjoy the splash park.  Parker did run through it before we left, though, and I’m sure from now through the summer you’d love to get cooled off in it.

Plus, there were several cute shows with dolphins, beluga whales, sea lions and more.

Parker’s Unicorn Birthday Party

Parker really wanted to have her party this year at the park.  For months we’ve been talking about all of the fun things she’ll be able to do at the park … and I dreamed of how easily I would be able to set up and clean up at the park.  I didn’t expect the thunderstorms though … yeah yeah yeah … I know … “April showers bring May flowers …”  Yep, those crazy thunderstorms we experienced this past weekend in Austin occurred right in the middle of her party.  So, Saturday morning we pulled the trigger and changed the venue to our house.  Which is currently a construction zone.  LOL.  Thankfully the kids enjoyed the electricity flickering on throughout the party. They even loved painting in the garage while a thunderstorm shook the house.

I don’t recommend changing the party venue to your house last-minute, but I’m very pleased with how it turned out.  I’m going to do a post all about it in the coming weeks.

Hamilton!

And, just to be obnoxious, I have to brag that I just scored Hamilton tickets!!!!!

I. can. barely. contain. myself.  AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Ever since my days in the theater productions classes of Keller High School (go Indians!), I’ve LOVED seeing live theatrical shows.  We recently went to see Waitress when it was in town in January, and I loved it.  I haven’t been to New York City in years, so I haven’t gotten the chance to see the widely-loved Hamilton.  I have been checking my email for months awaiting the announcement of the day tickets go on sale, and you better believe I was at my computer half an hour early this morning to get seats.  YAY!

If you didn’t get tickets today and you’re a parent at River Place Elementary, don’t fret.  A little birdie told me we will have a pair of tickets at the RPE Ignite Gala!  You can click here to buy your tickets to the gala and be sure you’re there to try to snag them!

Alright friends, that’s it for me today.  I’ll be back next week with a new Four Points Mom & Books post and more!
