Friday Favorites (10-26-18)

It’s Friday friends!

It’s been WAY too long since I’ve written a proper Friday Favorites post.  So, today I’m (Tiff’s) Treating everyone with a new one.  Did you get that … lol.  Keep reading to find out why I think that’s funny.  Hint: it just might involve a giveaway.

In case you’re new around here, Friday Favorites posts are totally random slices of favorites from the past week or so.  Here’s a link to my last Friday Favorites to give you some back story.  You can also search for Friday Favorites in the top menu to find more of these posts.

It’s fall y’all!  Around here that means a ton of activities stacked on top of each other which are then rescheduled over and over again due to rain.  Sigh.  But we have had a couple soccer games in which Foster continues to have a blast in.

This morning the kindergarteners treated us to the sweetest fairytale parade.  How adorable are these kiddos?

Foster loved seeing Parker up at his school and she felt so special getting big hugs from him this morning.

My friend, Kendra, let us borrow the handmade dragon cape she made for her daughter last year.

Isn’t it incredible?  She is so talented. Be sure to check out her Cloudberry Drapery Studio’s Instagram to see more of her amazing work.  If you need drapes, pillows, window seat cushions, etc. she is your gal!

Longhorn Football!

Since we moved back to Austin three years ago, the longhorn football seasons haven’t been that great.  Until now!  Woohoo!  We’ve already been to two games this season and it is INCREDIBLE to cheer for a strong team again.  We even took the kids to the Baylor game a couple weeks ago.

This was their first longhorn game and they were rock stars.  As long as we kept the unhealthy snacks and drinks flowing, they were happy as could be.  Oompah and Yaya were in town so thankfully we had some extra hands to help out.

It was possibly one of the busiest days of my year … but worth the memories.  We jammed in a birthday party, soccer game, longhorn game, and dinner at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse.  I’m tired again just thinking about it all!  By the time we got to dinner, I figured the kids would pass out.  Not so much.

This was before they were asked up on stage … and I head to drag them off practically in tears after the welcome had likely worn off.  Lol.

Another favorite I have to include in today’s post is the (somewhat) new Disney Junior Play Area at Barton Creek Square.

I believe it was last summer when I first heard about the new Disney Junior play area at Barton Creek Square, but I haven’t managed to drop by until a couple weeks ago when the kids were out of school for the Columbus Day holidays.  I was really impressed!

Although Foster is six and I would have assumed a bit too old for this type of indoor play area, there were several activities that were right up his alley.

I’m going to write an entire post on the play area, so stay tuned.  🙂

Moviehouse Influencer Night!

A couple weeks ago I was invited back to Moviehouse’s Influencer Night.  If you’ve been following along with the blog for awhile, you know Moviehouse is really the only theater we go to anymore.  Although we don’t have much in the Four Points area, we are very lucky to have Moviehouse less than 10 minutes from our homes!

Moviehouse just opened their newest theater down in Southwest Austin, the Lantana Place location.

It really isn’t too far of a drive from home and we made it there in about 40 minutes in rush hour traffic.  If you’re ever headed south or want to meet up with some Southwest Austin friends, check it out!  Plus, be sure to tell your friends to check it out themselves.  It’s located about 10 minutes from Westlake, 10 minutes from Bee Cave, and 5 minutes from Barton Creek.  You’ll be able to grab all the same yummy food and drinks that you’re used to as well.  Why can’t my salads at home look this beautiful or taste this delicious?

And the award for the most favorite of the post goes to … Our beloved Timer Electrical Outlet Switches and  Remote Control Electrical Outlet Switches.  Yeah, I feel very old and uncool right now, but this is where I am in life.  I’m raving about electrical outlet switches.

First, let me tell you about my newly-cozy living room and dining room thanks to these timer electrical outlet switches.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty bad about turning on lamps and general lighting around the house in the evenings.  Now that it’s getting darker outside earlier, I feel like I come out from the shadows of my office around 5:30 every evening to a depressing living situation.  Not anymore though!  I pulled out some timer electrical outlet switches (like these) from my Christmas decorations and have them timed to go off every evening around 4:45.  So, I have a lamp in my bookshelf by the fireplace, another lamp by our couch, and lamps in my dining room that light up automatically.  Plus, I even have one set to light up in the morning too, so when I walk out and it’s still dark … I’m mentally ready to go.  It sounds so silly, but it really makes me happy!

Plus, a couple years ago, Jarrod bought remote controlled electrical outlets for our lamps and fan in our bedroom.

I thought the entire idea was a little lazy and crazy.  However, I now can’t believe we lived without them.  We have lamps and a fan placed throughout our room.  We usually lie in bed reading quite some time before actually falling asleep.  The last thing we want to do is to make any drastic movements that might put the perfectly-placed pillows and blankets in disarray and get out of bed to turn off the lamps and turn on the fan.  We don’t have to do that anymore … hallelujah!

Okay, I’m being a bit facetious.  But, I’m not kidding. these switches will change your life for a total of about 30 bucks.  Plus, the Remote Control Electrical Outlet Switches are the Amazon Deal of the Day.  When I saw them come across my email, I figured they deserved a PSA from me.  🙂
