Back To School

Back To School

We’ve been back to school for over a week now and this pretty much sums up how I’m feeling this morning.

I couldn’t find the gif any bigger, but I used it anyways. LOL.  I thought Foster would feel this way too.  Nope.  This is pretty much him every afternoon after getting off this bus.

So much energy!  How can I bottle this up?

Off To Kindergarten We Go!

Overall I was super excited for Foster to head to kindergarten this year.  He’s been in preschool for years and he LOVES learning and making new friends.  At the same time, I did have a little anxiety over whether he would … handle the longer school day without meltdowns, get a great teacher, make friends, get on the bus without me that first day, and so on.  But, you know what, he did great!  I know so many people who were praying for this little guy, and God answered those prayers – that’s for sure!

After the first day of school, he did tell me “I made some bad choices but I only got 1 timeout.”  LOL.  Thankfully, his bad choices involved stepping out of line in the hallway (i.e., he only was redirected a bit … ha ha).  But, he’s really handled this transition like a champ!  Plus, I have been worrying about how Parker would handle Foster being gone all day, especially since her school doesn’t start until Monday.  She has hardly noticed!

Instead, she’s fully taking advantage of one-on-one time with me and Miss Amie (who has been babysitting her while I’m working this week).  I mean does she look like she’s suffering? Ha.  She’s had solo trips to Target, H-E-B, Chick-Fil-A, and Creamistry.  The girl is doing just fine.  😉

Big Boys Ride Busses

Foster has absolutely loved getting on the bus every morning.

We have an amazing bus driver, Mr. Canada.  After my grandfather retired from running a cattle ranch, he was a bus driver for elementary school students.  He passed away back in 2010, but he spent the last few years of his life cherishing those mornings and afternoons with those children.  He loved them like he did his own grandchildren.  I never had a bus driver that cared that much for his riders, but I think we have something similar with Mr. Canada.  Right away he knew all the children’s names and he now even knows Parker’s name.  Plus, he’s always helping remind them to grab their backpacks, water bottles, and so on.  He’s incredible.  What a blessing!  But, who are we kidding?  Who wouldn’t love the kiddos at this bus stop?  🙂

Okay, Mom, You Can Go Now

On the first day of school, all the kindergarteners met in the gym.  Foster loved sitting with his best buddy, Finley.

And, he actually didn’t mind taking a selfie with me.  I’ll have to remind him of this because I’m pretty sure this won’t be the case all too soon.

I’m Going To School Too

When we got back from dropping off Foster at school, Parker wanted to pack her backpack so she could pretend to go to school too.

Such a sweetie!  And Parker and I have loved going to and from the bus stop every day.  I didn’t think that this would be a fun little bit of quality time together each day.

Alright, have a wonderful weekend everyone!
