Friday Favorites with Hawaii and Moviehouse (8-10-18)

It’s the last Friday before school starts back up.  Does that stress out anyone else?

Well, maybe this throwback to Billy Madison will at least make you laugh.  Does that age me a bit?  Ha ha.  And I’m super happy that my kids will be doing a little less of this …

Anyone else’s allowed screen time creeped up a bit by now this summer?  It can’t just be me … I’m telling myself that at least.

It seems like it’s been forever since I did a Friday Favorites post, so I decided to do one today.  In case you’re new around here, I love throwing together a Friday Favorites blog post.  These are totally random slices of favorites from the past week or so.  Here’s a link to my last Friday Favorites to give you some back story.  You can also search for Friday Favorites in the top menu to find more of these posts.

And as I’m sure many of you are quite aware of … I have ANOTHER giveaway for you!  The summer of giveaways continues!!!!  Keep reading to find out whether you won Tuesday’s announced giveaway to Moviehouse, and will be relaxing in those comfy recliners with your family soon.

Let’s get to it!

I’m not in Kansas Hawaii anymore.

We had an amazing vacation last month to Hawaii, and a sense of melancholy is filling the house.  How could it not when … we nightly watched these sunsets off our patio?

A quick drive led to hikes with views of the Na Pali Coast?

And shave ice was a daily treat?

We have so many amazing photos that I’d love to share with you (as well as many tips for traveling there with kids).  I’m thinking of throwing together a post about it later this month.

And did I mention that we all have amazing tans now?  :).

I joked with my husband that the last time I was this tan was when I was fake-baking (embarrassingly horrible for me, I know) for prom.  Don’t worry – we wore tons of sunscreen and hats in Hawaii.  I haven’t forgotten the skin health advice from Dr. Rosenberger from Facial Focus.  I felt like I needed to clarify before a few of you give me well-intended lectures in the comments below.  LOL.

So, check back in later this month once my kids are back in school and I have a bit more time for blogging.  Until then, aloha …

We said goodbye to our Joanna.

Last week was a very sad day for us because we had to agree to let our nanny of three years, Joanna, head to Texas State to resume her studies.  I’m trying not too take this too personally as I guess we can’t use her as a part-time nanny forever … but this definitely causes some sadness and accumulated disorganization around our house.  Joanna started working for us when Parker was only four months old and Foster wasn’t even two years old.  This video was taken when Joanna started.

Okay, I’m starting to cry again.  She’s been through so much with our little family.  Joanna, we miss you so much but we are thrilled that you’re headed back to school. You’ll make an excellent teacher!

I finally stopped by John Simpson Playground in Steiner Ranch.

I didn’t have the kids with me because I was just out for a jog, but I’ll bring them back.  It has tons of shady areas including a big sand volleyball court and basketball court.

Stop here if you’re looking for a new playground with some shade in this heat.  I do not believe there are public bathrooms (unless you are a Steiner Ranch resident who can access the enclosed pool area).  I just wanted to throw that out there so you can ensure to do potty breaks in advance.  And don’t forget to check out my Austin Playgrounds post for more playground recommendations and reviews.

Golf Camp and Dance Class!

You can’t really tell, but Foster is somewhere in this photo … underneath the gorgeous sky, learning how to play golf.  We are so excited that he enjoyed himself at golf camp this summer.  My husband has his fingers crossed, hoping he’ll be out there on the course with Foster in no time.

Parker also started dance class this week.  Do you think she liked it?

She woke up this morning begging to go back.  She hasn’t quite figured out that she only gets to go once a week.

Four Points Mom was featured in River Place Living – yay!

Earlier this summer Rebecca Reese reached out to me, asking if River Place Living could feature me in their monthly magazine.  I was so honored to be asked, and I am thrilled with how the article turned out.  Again, thank you all for supporting this site and me.  HUGS YOUR WAY!

Giveaway from Moviehouse!

Alright, I guess I need to finally tell you who won this week’s giveaway to Moviehouse.  A big thank you goes out to Moviehouse for treating one of you with four tickets and two bottomless popcorns.  So, who won?  We had over 40 entries for this giveaway which I believe is the highest number thus far.  So, the winner is super lucky today and should probably head to Vegas.  Drumroll please …

Britney Myers

Congratulations Britney!  Email me at angelique@fourpointsmom.com so I can hook you up!  Enjoy your time at the movies.

I’m out for the weekend.  I can’t wait to see some longtime college friends and their kiddos this weekend.  Rain, rain, go away … at least until we are able to have some pool time tomorrow.  🙂
