What’s Up Wednesday (5-30-2018)

What’s Up Wednesday (5-30-2018)

It’s Wednesday which means we’re halfway through the week.  Woohoo!

I feel like we’re steamrolling into the summer now that June is right around the corner.  Anyone else want time to slow down just a bit?  I mean, I love summer but I wouldn’t mind hanging on to upper 80-degree weather for a few more weeks.  However, it doesn’t seem like Austin’s weather is going to indulge me too much longer.

As summer begins, I’ll be posting quite a bit more.  So, make sure you’re following me on Facebook and Instagram … you don’t want to miss new recommendations for local activities and businesses that will help keep you and your kids sane this summer!  Today I’m posting my monthly What’s Up Wednesday post.

In case you’re somewhat new to the blog, one Wednesday every month I link up with a few other ladies’ awesome blogs (like Mix and Match Mama) and share some random and fun things that are going on in my life.

Each time I answer the following questions:

What's Up Wednesday Questions

So,  if you’re wanting a little insight into my sometimes crazy, sometimes boring, and sometimes hysterically ridiculous life, keep reading.  It might bore you to tears or it might be like a train wreck you can’t help but stopping to gawk.  You just never know with me.  😉  Here’s a link to my last What’s Up Wednesday post in case you missed it.

1. What We’re Eating This Week …

We just cleaned out our pantry and threw out a bunch of stuff because I need to be beach-ready asap.  Yep, I know I sound like a broken record.  Yesterday morning Shipt delivered our healthy groceries for the week.  Not only does Shipt save me tons of time, but it also helps ward off impulse purchases as I walk down the H-E-B aisles.  You really should check it out – the annual fee is worth it!

If you’re curious about why I love Shipt, you should check out my weeklong series on grocery-delivery and curbside pickup services.

2.  What I’m Reminiscing About …

My babies aren’t babies anymore.

We visited my little brother’s new baby, Amariah, two weekends ago in Houston.  Isn’t she precious?

Being around a baby powder-smelling beautiful baby has me reminiscing of those months that flew by way too fast in our house.  Here’s baby Foster.

Baby Foster

And baby Parker.

I can barely remember those times, but I’m pretty sure I spent much of the time wishing they’d just grow up a bit and sleep through the night.  What a great reminder for me to stop trying to rush my babies (okay, big kids) into growing up.

3.  What I’m Loving …

Hanging at the pool and lake!

We played hooky last Friday morning from school and instead took the boat to Mozart’s for breakfast.  On the way back, the kids and I jumped on the tube.  All week, they’ve been begging to go back out and tube some more.  As Parker says, “I love tubing …”

We also enjoyed the cool pool on Memorial Day.  Can you tell my kiddos are water babies?

This one just makes me shake my head.  😉

4.  What We’ve Been Up To …

We’ve been busy .. in the best of ways.  Over the past few weekends we’ve celebrated the graduations of my cousins, Madison and Zach.  (And my other cousin, Jaxon, turned 15!)

It seems like yesterday I was posing with them as babies.

Geez, this post is making me feel ancient.

5.  What I’m Dreading …

Umm, the only thing that comes to mind is the early wake-up call we’ll have on Saturday morning for Foster’s swim meet.

But, it will be worth it to see his happy face after he’s finished.  He loves swim team and knowing he can get a ribbon if he improves his time.  🙂

6.  What I’m Working On …

The Four Points Mom Summer of Giveaways is keeping me busy!!!  I’ve already given away over $100 to Facial Focus Cosmetic Surgery.

Plus, this week Heidi Vernier won a $100 gift card to Erin Condren!

Plus, I’ve been getting my new Erin Condren LifePlanner ready for July 2018 (when it begins).

7.  What I’m Excited About …

My monthly unlimited pass to The Coop Austin.

The Coop Austin

I won the pass at the River Place Elementary Gala, and I finally stopped by The Coop Austin yesterday.  My friend, Michele, and her children joined us, and the kids had a blast!

The Coop is an indoor play center near the Domain.  There’s a huge ball pit, bounce house, and tons of toys and other activities.

As the weather gets hotter, we’ll appreciate having this CLEAN place to play.  I’ll likely have a full write-up of The Coop Austin soon.  Stay tuned!

8.  What I’m Watching/ Reading …

In case you missed yesterday’s Four Points Mom & Books post, I’ve been very busy reading this month!

Four Points Mom & Books - May 2018

I’ve also been watching Veep.

Veep

I started this show a few years ago and it’s one that I wish my husband started with me because it’s a laugh-out-loud comedy that I wish we could laugh at together.  I think I need to force him to sit down with me and begin from the beginning.  Anyone else watch Veep?  Feel free to reach out to me if you want to laugh with someone about Selina’s unbelievable aloofness.  And Gary … lol … what else can be said about him?

9.  What I’m Listening To …

Lately we’ve been listening to Do-Re-Me from The Sound of Music.

Sound of Music

The kids absolutely love this song and, as a result, I get requested to play it pretty much every time I’m in the car.  It’s really cute … and only driving me slightly crazy.

11.  What I’m Wearing …

Hello … swimsuits!  Based on everything else I’ve written, you know I’m practically living in my swimsuit at this point.

That being said, I am excitedly shopping the Half-Yearly Nordstrom Sale right now.  How did this sneak up on me?

I’ve been thinking about trying out the backpack style in replace of my typical purse, and I just saw this one.

The sale price is incredible, so I just might be taking the plunge!  I’m also loving the price of this TopShop V-Neck Swimsuit Coverup.

12.  What I’m Doing This Weekend …

Well, I already mentioned the early morning we have on Saturday for Foster’s swim meet.  We’ll probably do a fun other fun activities afterwards.  Any ideas?  Send them my way!

13.  What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month …

We’ll be soaking up summer, hitting up tons of local kid-friendly spots all over town.

14.  What Else Is New …

We have the A/C guy coming out for the second time in two weeks tomorrow.  This is another sign that summer is here.  LOL.  However, I do want to say that we recently put in a Nest on our second air conditioner and if you don’t have one yet … you should!

It is helping us save so much money, especially as it gets so hot outside.  It automatically adjusts the temperature when you aren’t using it and it even remembers your patterns.  We learned that we run our upstairs air conditioner about 3 times as much as our downstairs one which shocked me.  Plus, it’s quite handy when you head out of town and forget to adjust the temperature before leaving the house.  You can just adjust it from the app.  I’m sure many of you already have one, but if you don’t – you need it!

That’s it for me today!  Have a great one.  🙂
