Friday Favorites with Four Points Mom (4-20-18)

After a whirlwind couple of weeks, I am absolutely ready for this weekend.  I’ve been a little MIA lately because I’ve been so busy, so I’m ready to play a bit of catch up with you in this Friday Favorites post.

In case you’re new around here, I love throwing together a Friday Favorites blog post.  These are totally random slices of favorites from the past week or so.  Here’s a link to my last Friday Favorites to give you some back story.  You can also search for Friday Favorites in the top menu to find more of these posts.

So, let’s get to it!

The Trike-a-Thon at Riverbend Christian School, Benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

This was my second year chairing the Trike-a-Thon for Riverbend and I was thrilled to see our Riverbend family collect over $8,000 in donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital!

The money raised helps fund treatment for children as St. Jude’s does not charge a dime to any of its patients.  What a wonderful cause!

This was Parker’s first year to participate and she felt so BIG getting to (kinda) scoot around on her scooter.

This was Foster’s third year to “race” and he felt pretty cool being the only kid in his class without training wheels.  🙂

For those of you who helped volunteer for the event and/ or contributed in any way – thank you so much!  I’ve already signed up to do the event again next year because I truly enjoy helping out the school help families at St. Jude’s.

Spring Yard Work

Okay, yard work is definitely not something I regularly consider a “favorite,” but I love how it is one of those projects that you immediately see results.  With Parker’s birthday party coming up last weekend, we wanted to get some of our annual yard work finished up beforehand.  Let me rephrase … I wanted to get it finished before the party.  My husband was a trooper who indulged my desires.

We made several trips to Home Depot and Lowes.

We spent hours in our yard pulling weeds, planting flowers and shrubs, and having near panic attacks every time something moved that could have slightly resembled a snake.  Okay, maybe that was just me …

The biggest project was the large bed under our biggest tree in our backyard.  Last year when we installed sod I decided to make the bed about three times bigger than it previously was because I was afraid the grass wouldn’t grow in that shady area.  We threw down mulch in that area but we didn’t put down anything as a weed barrier.  Thus, it looked like this when we started working on it this year. It was FULL of weeds.  I took this photo from our upstairs patio after my husband had gotten rid of weeds from the front part of the bed.  You can see the weeds he hadn’t yet touched in the back area.

But, the hubs did a great job getting rid of the weeds and we then laid down the barrier.  Then we planted the shrubs.  And, finally, we put down the mulch.  Here’s the “After” photo.

You can see we still need to add some mulch to the very back area (but by then we ran out of time before the party).  95% complete was good enough for me!

Parker’s Birthday Weekend

Parker turned 3 this past weekend and we celebrated this girl to the extreme.

She had a birthday party on Saturday and was thrilled to dance around and play with instruments with Songs for Seeds.

If you haven’t checked out Songs for Seeds, I highly recommend it for kiddos who love singing and dancing.  They just started a new class on Tuesday mornings at 11 am.  Call them and see if you can try it out!  Your first class is always free.  (And this is not an ad … I just love them!).

I’m planning to do a post on Parker’s party next week.  In the meantime, check out my post about Foster’s Dinosaur Party from last fall.

Parker’s actual birthday was on Sunday and she woke up to special Happy Birthday Donuts from Angel Donuts.

Here she is with her Oompah.  The girl was on cloud nine that morning … she loved her little birthday girl pin too!

The sun came out and we did not want to waste it.  Into the boat for a birthday ride on lake Austin.  Parker sure does love her Gigi (my husband’s mom).

She even got to drive a little.  😉

Of course, Foster had to jump in on the fun too.

On Monday, Parker’s celebration continued with her little party at school.

That poor girl will always be bossed around by her brother.  LOL.

Who says I’m not spontaneous?

Well, on Monday we were all about being spontaneous.  We’ve been trying to convince our in-laws to move to Marble Falls (or really anywhere closer to us than Arizona …).  On Monday afternoon we started talking to my mother-in-law again about Marble Falls and then decided last-minute to head there that day and stay overnight somewhere.  We found a great AirBNB at the Wyndham Worldmark that had a beautiful view of the water.

Plus, the property had a nice pool and splash pad for the kids!  Win-win!

The next morning we woke up and headed to Enchanted Rock and Fredericksburg.  This was Foster after making it to the top of Enchanted Rock.

Can you tell someone was hangry?  LOL.  But we all enjoyed the view from the top!

We didn’t take many photos this trip, but you can read more about why we love Enchanted Rock in my Enchanted Rock post from earlier this year.

Dream Dinners Dream Taste

Yesterday I hosted a Dream Taste at Dream Dinners.  If you haven’t tried out Dream Dinners, I highly recommend it.  In under an hour, you can prep several delicious meals for your family that you can throw into your freezer or fridge at home.  Their staff follow around behind you, cleaning up after you, and you kinda feel like royalty while they do so.  Ha.  The best part is that you have yummy home-cooked recipes that you can easily throw into the oven (sometimes directly from the freezer) on those days when you don’t feel like spending hours in the kitchen.  Plus, the mess at home is minimal since you prepped everything in the store.

I’ve already scheduled to head back in May with a friend so I can meal prep and catch up at the same time.  Check them out!

Kindergarten Registration

Yesterday we registered Foster for kindergarten.  I didn’t cry.  I’m such a big girl!  LOL.  He was excited to see his BFF, Finley. at registration too.  Look how little he is walking into the school …

Time slow down!

Okay, that’s it for me today.  As always, leave a comment below, email me, or message me to let me know what you’d like to read about here on Four Points Mom.
