Friday Favorites (9-11-20)

It’s Friday!

We’ve had quite an exciting week in our house and I’m ready to slow it down and enjoy a relaxing weekend with NOTHING on the agenda … right after I do my Office “That Friday Feeling” dance. 😉

If you’re new around here, Friday Favorites posts are just random slices of favorites in my life.  I can’t believe my last Friday Favorites was on Valentine’s Day.  I just glanced through it and thought about how sweet and innocent pre-COVID Angelique was.  I especially love the part when I planned out Parker’s swim lessons and swim team for the summer.  So cute.

Back to REAL School!

We took back to school photos a couple weeks ago when the kids started back to virtual school.

Even though they knew they’d be sitting in our dining room, they still had big smiles on their faces!

Virtual school actually exceeded all of my expectations.  I’m sure I’m not alone in that virtual learning last spring was not so fun.  The district and us parents were in a trial by fire situation!  However, I was very happy with how everything was handled when school started up.  The teachers were on their game and the schedule (although a beat-down at times) was so much better than what I’ve heard other districts have implemented.

On Monday, though, Parker left the world of virtual school behind and headed to REAL KINDERGARTEN.

She was so excited to get on the bus Tuesday morning even though her brother wouldn’t be there with her.  Leander ISD is phasing in the return to in-person school, and Foster won’t be back until September 21st.  Brave Parker didn’t mind one bit that she was one of only three kids on the bus.  She is a sucker for extra attention, you know.  lol.

This mom did shed a few tears after she got on the bus, but it was so surreal!  Along with so many of you, I had an idea of what this first day would be like.  I would walk her into school, we would take a photo with her teacher, and I’d get to linger at the door watching her color her “first day of kindergarten” coloring sheet.  Is it disappointing that I didn’t get to do that with her like I did with Foster?  Of course!  However, those feelings were more about me and not about her.  She had a fabulous day and couldn’t wait to tell me all about it when she came home that afternoon.

I’m so thankful she’s been in the school hundreds of times with me and her brother over the past two years and that she has the same teacher Foster did in kindergarten.  She’s in great hands and she’s SO ready.  I know she’ll do great.

To be honest, deleting all of her Zooms and asynchronous learning from my calendar served as my weekly therapy. 😆

Fall weather?

Yesterday morning I put on pants and a sweater you guys!  AHHHH!  My pants even had buttons on them.  Yeah, I got dressed up in jeans.  Ha. I’m sure the rest of you here in Texas had comic-esque smiles plastered on your faces yesterday when you felt the cool weather.  It’s almost as if I experienced a biological response because I immediately jumped in my car and headed to Starbucks to order …

A pumpkin spice latte, of course.  If there was ever a reason to break my nearly-perfect two and a half months of intermittent fasting, it’s for a pumpkin spice latte, right?

I even pulled out some fall decor.

And you know I’m already burning my fall-scented candles.

Fall seems to bring a new sense of hope.  As the season changes, I’m hopeful that this strange way of living during COVID becomes a thing of the past.  Don’t read anything into this other than I’m just hopeful – I choose to be hopeful.  🙂

It’s Popsicle Time!

This guy was a ROCK STAR about his tonsillectomy this week.  He got a COVID test on Saturday (which is now required before surgeries) and he literally said “that was it?” afterwards.  I know so many people are scared of the tests, and I really want to spread the word that the fear isn’t justified.  I’d compare it to getting a shot.  It stings for a second and then it’s over.

The night before his surgery, we celebrated with Mickey popsicles (because we are a Disney family you know).

I asked him how scared he was on a scale of 1 to 10, and he said 1.  Ha ha.  We’re now sharing the couch, each on our screens.  The next few days won’t be very fun from what I hear, but I’m praying he’ll keep such a positive attitude (and that the meds continue to work).

Travel is Coming Back!

It’s very apparent that I’m not the only one hopeful about things in the world right now.  So many of you have reached out to have me pull pricing for travel this fall and winter.  I LOVE helping you guys!  I loved getting updates from clients who were at the gorgeous resort above (Secrets Playa Mujeres) last week.  Mexico currently has resorts at a 30% capacity and I am happy to hear that most resorts have incredible cleaning and social distancing procedures in place.

Plus, Disney World announced last week new fall promotions and there is a new character dining option opening this month at Hollywood & Vine.

I love seeing things slowly returning to normal (or almost normal).  🙂  Email me if you would like a no-obligation quote!  I specialize in Mexico, Hawaii, and Disney, but I can help with any travel needs.

I hope you guys are as excited about your Friday and the weekend as this girl!

Have a wonderful weekend friends!
