Four Points Mom & Books – February 2020

Four Points Mom & Books – February 2020

Hi friends!

Today I’m happy to share with you the books I read last month.

As I’ve mentioned before, I “read” most of my books via audiobooks from the library.  The downfall to this is that I sometimes find myself waiting for any book to become available and then I’ll have three or four pop up within a day of each other.  Then I have to rush through them.  Anyone else have this problem?  This happened to me last month and I’m currently in a dry spell with no books available in my queue.  Help me out Austin Library!

Alright, let’s get to my books from February.

I absolutely adored this book.  This book was nothing like I expected.  It tells the story of a family that lives in a unique house.  Although the house is pretty much a character in the book, the two actual main characters (a brother and a sister) were so believable.  You love them.  You hate them.  But, you can’t help but like and care for them.  If you’re also an audiobook junkie, you’ll love this one because Tom Hanks is the narrator.  I 100% recommend this book!

My husband raved about this book for months and even placed the actual book on my desk.  However, I just wasn’t very excited to read it until it popped up as an available audiobook.  I learned several good habits from this book and I think it’s a great “self-help” book if you’re looking for one.  I recommend this one too!

This book blew my mind.  It tells a fictional story about migrants crossing the border from Mexico into the states.  There was a lot of controversy regarding this book, though, because the author herself is Puerto Rican.  I am one who avoids controversy and I just want to say that the story was beautiful.  The characters are beautifully-written.  The story is one that I wish everyone would read.  This one will likely make my best of 2020 list.  I loved it!

Lisa Jewell has quickly become one of my go-to authors.  She is wonderful at creating complicated relationships between tons of people that don’t have much in common.  This book was nothing like I expected and it was pretty good.  I wouldn’t say it was my favorite, but it kept me interested and I couldn’t have predicted what was going to happen.  I recommend it.

That’s it for this month.  I have been so busy with work that I just didn’t read as much as usual!  I’m on it already in March so don’t worry – I’ll be back with a ton of books next month.  🙂  And, you can always check out last month’s post here.

Stay healthy and safe out there you guys!
