What’s Up Wednesday (2-28-2018)

What’s Up Everybody?

Not only is it my favorite Wednesday of the month (because I get to share with you my What’s Up Wednesday post), but it’s also the end of February which kinda signifies the beginning of spring is right around the corner.  Woohoo!  Anybody else ready for spring and sick of this strange weather and seemingly endless bouts of family sickness?

In case you’re somewhat new to the blog, one Wednesday every month I link up with a few other ladies’ awesome blogs (like Mix and Match Mama) and share some random and fun things that are going on in my life.

Each time I answer the following questions:

What's Up Wednesday Questions

So,  if you’re wanting a little insight into my sometimes crazy, sometimes boring, and sometimes hysterically ridiculous life, keep reading.  It might bore you to tears or it might be like a train wreck you can’t help but stopping to gawk.  You just never know with me.  😉

1. What We’re Eating This Week …

This weekend I sat down to meal plan and I ended up saving several recipes that seem healthy and easy to my new Pinterest board.  Last night I made this recipe.

It was actually pretty much the same thing I make all the time.  Ground turkey, taco seasoning, veggies, and cheese.  Yum!

2.  What I’m Reminiscing About …

Moxie Matters!

Last night I (along with pretty much every other woman in Austin …) went to Riverbend Church to see Jen Hatmaker speak.  She is a local Austinite who happens to also be a best-selling author who writes the inspirational books for women.  Plus, she’s hysterical.  I can’t even tell you how many times I thought “I haven’t laughed this hard in a very long time” last night while she was talking.

The event was incredible and I left with a laundry list of ways to be a better Christian, mom, neighbor … pretty much just better in general.  If you couldn’t attend, grab one of her books.  I reviewed Of Mess and Moxie in Monday’s post but my favorite book of Jen’s is For The Love.  You’ll laugh and cry.  You’ll be inspired to take on your day.

3.  What I’m Loving …

My kids still love each other!

This might sound ridiculous, but sometimes I just think “wow, I’m so lucky that they love each other so much.”  And they love me … and everyone else if I’m being honest.

Parker actually likes to remind me that she loves everyone else.  “Mommy, I love you to the moon and stars.  And I love everyone else.”  Ha.

4.  What We’ve Been Up To …

My grandmother celebrated her 83rd birthday this past weekend.

Mimi still looks good.  😉

Parker’s finally figured out how to do thumbs up.  Can you tell we see a lot of thumbs lately?

And we started t-ball.  My fingers are crossed that it doesn’t rain today and I’ll get to share some super cute photos of Foster in his gear.

5.  What I’m Dreading …

My kiddos growing up too fast.  Ha.  That’s all I can think of right now.  Time slow down.   🙂

6.  What I’m Working On …

Parker’s new big girl room!

Over the past few months we’ve started to feel really bad for poor Parker and her uncomfortable waterproof (i.e., plastic) tiny crib mattress.  She’s never been a good sleeper and we realized maybe it’s that terrible mattress we’ve had her sleep on for nearly three years!

I’m not finished … at all … but I at least managed to get the mattress, bed, duvet, duvet cover, hot pink blanket, and sheets taken care of last month.  I’m currently still using her throw pillows from her crib and need to buy European pillows.  And do something with her walls.

For those of you familiar with our strict budgeting, I’m happy to report that I only went $100 over our $600 budget for everything.  LOL.  And that duvet cover was only $34 shipped to my house from Pottery Barn Kids.  WHAT!?!  Yeah, I’m proud of myself for that one.

I also finished painting my island!

I really like the color but now I want new countertops.  Sigh …

7.  What I’m Excited About …

I’m most excited right now about the trip we just planned to …

HAWAII!

We’re not going until the summer but it’s pretty much all I daydream about anymore.

8.  What I’m Watching/ Reading …

I hope you all checked out Monday’s Four Points Mom & Books post because I told you about quite a few books you should add to your Amazon cart!

9.  What I’m Listening To …

Last night at Moxie Matters I was introduced to Nichole Nordeman.  She is amazing you guys!  Check her out.

11.  What I’m Wearing …

I’ve got nothing for you this month.  Yoga pants and workout tops … layered with my fleece jacket or rain jacket, depending on the Texas weather at the moment.  Sorry, that’s boring.  And honest.  Ha.

12.  What I’m Doing This Weekend …

We have t-ball, volunteering with Generation Serve (our first time – I’m so excited to get the kids involved in helping our community), and Kite Fest.

It sounds like a pretty perfect weekend to me!

13.  What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month …

Warmer and dryer weather …. please!  I can’t wait until we’re all (hopefully) healthy and we can get outside and play.  Selfishly, I want to get outside and run.  This past month I haven’t been able to do so either due to my work schedule, rainy weather, high pollen, a kiddo being sick (the couldn’t go to kids place or school), or I was sick.  I’m hoping March is free of sickness and yucky weather.

14.  What Else Is New …

Stay tuned for my wrap-up of spring break activities and camps that you should check out!

That’s it for me today!  Have a great one.  🙂
