Hello 2018!

Hello 2018!

Happy New Year everyone!

I don’t know about you but I AM READY for a fresh start this new year.  Some of my goals involve intentionally arriving 5 minutes early (since I’m routinely 10 minutes late), loosely monthly meal planning, and meeting a weight goal for a trip to Hawaii this summer.

I thought this meme was hysterical and I had to include it.  I usually don’t do resolutions so this year I’m super excited about my casual promises to myself goals and stomping all over them.  🙂

The Past and Future of Four Points Mom

Thank you for your patience as I know I’ve been MIA for the past couple of weeks.  I needed a reset and I’m now refreshed and ready to jump back into my blog world.

I actually spent a lot of time in December thinking about the past year.  It has been quite the whirlwind.  I started tinkering a bit with the website back in May and really rolled it out publicly in June.

Here’s my welcome post … ah, it’s so cute and newborn fresh.

And, I just love my first Four Points Mom & Playgrounds post …

Towne Square Park

I remember begging my friends to like the Four Points Mom Facebook page and follow me on Instagram.  I had my faithful few who did so and who would regularly tell me how much they loved the blog (I’m looking at you, Michele, Lacy, and Molly) but it was a slow process.  I had no idea how hard it would be to regularly post content that I hope others find valuable or funny or, at a minimum, worth spending a few minutes reading.  I quickly found myself spending more time blogging than anything else in my life.  No joke!  That means more time blogging than working at my “real” gig as an attorney, my other “real” gig as a mom, and everything in between.  Although I really enjoy blogging, especially when I’m offering you amazing giveaways from local businesses, I started to think about where my priorities lie.  I should spend the most time being a present mom and wife!  I should then spend time working at my job that allows me to contribute a nice amount of money to our family.  Then, I should blog.

All of this to say that Four Points Mom isn’t going anywhere, but I’m getting back to my original goals with the site.  I developed Four Points Mom with the goal of becoming the “go-to” resource for moms in the Four Points Area of Austin.  So, I’ve done a little reworking of the site to focus on my resource pages.  You’ll now notice that my recent blog posts aren’t the first thing you see on the website anymore.  Instead, I’ve included links to the comprehensive resource pages for our community, such as the Restaurants with Playgrounds page and the Fitness Spots page.  You can still find my recent blog posts, though, by scrolling down or by clicking on blog on the top menu.  I will be posting once or twice a week instead of three, four, or five times a week.

I’m still going to be working with businesses to provide you with amazing giveaways.  I’m still going to try to do my weekly Friday Favorites posts.  I’m still going to actively post on Facebook and Instagram.  I LOVE this blog and you, my readers!  Thank you for regularly checking in and making this website a community for us moms in the Four Points Area (and beyond).  It’s hard to believe that I now have over 1,000 Instagram followers and nearly 700 Facebook followers.   Since rolling out the site, I’ve published 102 blog posts, hosted 16 giveaways from local businesses, and updated 10 resource pages for moms in Austin’s Four Points Area.  It’s been fun and I can’t wait to see what 2018 holds!

Hugs and love to you all,

Angelique
