What’s Up Wednesday (10-25-2017)

What’s Up Wednesday (10-25-2017)

What’s up everyone?  We’re halfway through the week and I’m already exhausted.  Anyone feeling this way?  I don’t know if it’s allergies, the fact that the sun goes down so much earlier, or what.  But October is doing a number on this girl’s energy level!

This morning, though, I am a bit excited because it’s time for another What’s Up Wednesday post.  I link up with a few other ladies’ awesome blogs and share some random and fun things that are going on in my life.  Let’s get to it!

Each time I answer the following questions:

What's Up Wednesday Questions

Last month’s post was super fun, so let’s do it again today!

1. What We’re Eating This Week …

Finally, we’re diving into some fall-themed foods.  Last week at school, Foster’s creative teacher literally had them making and tasting every menu item related to fall.  Of course, Foster’s favorite was the pumpkin brownies.  How have I never heard of these before?

As I type, I have Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Muffins (from their yummy Bread & Muffin Mix) in the oven.

I CANNOT wait to enjoy one … okay probably three … of them.  Also, on the menu for the week is some of the Trader Joe’s Fall Zucchette Pasta Butternut Squash Noodles with some easy pasta sauce.  I think tonight, though, we’ll be eating this yummy pork tenderloin recipe that is perfect for the sudden cooler weather.

2.  What I’m Reminiscing About …

Well, in yesterday’s Show & Tell Tuesday post I wrote about my favorite holiday (Christmas) and I’ve been thinking back on Christmases from years and years ago.  We also recently found a few Christmas decorations that my great-grandmother made nearly fifty years ago, and I’m so excited to pull them and let my kiddos help me decorate the house with them, sharing my memories about her.

3.  What I’m Loving …

This weather!  Fall is finally in Austin!

4.  What We’ve Been Up To …

SOCCER!

😉

This is the first season that Foster has played a sport and I have loved watching him start from scratch knowing nothing about how to do it and become a competitive little player.

And, he’s all of a sudden very smitten with a certain little girl …

Can’t blame him … Kinley is pretty cute.  🙂  But, it’s been so fun watching Foster make friends and have his first foray into group sports.  This whole soccer mom thing isn’t too shabby.

5.  What I’m Dreading …

I can’t think of anything actually!  The past few weeks have been jam-packed with things I’ve stressed about … Foster’s birthday party, family photos, new work projects, and so on.  But, I seriously can’t think of anything I’m stressing about now.  No complaints here!

6.  What I’m Working On …

Next month we have very exciting stuff going on at Four Points Mom.  I’m still finalizing a few details, but I CANNOT WAIT to tell you all about it.  Stay tuned and early next week you’ll hear what I’ve been working on with the site.  Believe me, you’ll want to hear about it.

Also, I’ve been working on getting my health and fitness back in order.  Last month I mentioned that I’m trying to lose weight (and the journey continues).  Yesterday, though, I met with Dr. Donald Levin with Austin Sports Therapy, and he’s helping me keep my knee and foot in order.  I love running and have had a few flair-ups recently, so I enjoyed learning about why it’s happening and how I can ensure it doesn’t keep happening.

7.  What I’m Excited About …

Halloween is less than a week away!  Last night we stopped by River Place Country Club’s Spooktacular Event, and the kids had a blast putting on their costumes for the first time this year.

Yep, we have (another) dinosaur and a pink cupcake.  This is the first time that both of my kids had strong opinions about their costumes, and there was nothing I could do to persuade them otherwise.  Sigh.  Last year Parker happily threw on a pink dinosaur to coordinate with her brother.

And it helped us finish out our Jurassic World theme.

Jarrod’s costume was the best clearly.  We even had his mom in town to join in as a lab technician.  It was awesome.

And two years ago Parker willingly put on her cute cat costume.

And, yes, Foster has now been a dinosaur three years in a row.  I can’t convince him otherwise!  At least I encouraged him to be a different color this year.

8.  What I’m Watching/ Reading …

As I mentioned at the beginning of today’s post, I have been so exhausted that I really haven’t been watching much of anything.  Last month I found Felicity on Hulu and that’s my go-to show when I’m messing around in the kitchen.

Noel or Ben … hmmm.  Ben all the way.  🙂  And, yes, I’ve watched every episode before, but I’m enjoying watching them all again.

I’m reading this:

I just started this book, but I’m already hooked.  If you’ve followed what I’ve read over the past few months, you know I love John Grisham.  My deeply-buried lawyer inside of me just can’t help myself.

9.  What I’m Listening To …

I just love Taylor Swift’s new song and I pretty much have it on repeat when I’m getting ready.  Great … now it’s going to be stuck in my head all day!

11.  What I’m Wearing …

My Uggs … and now it’s finally appropriate weather to do so!

I love some of the new styles that are out now too.  These new light gray ones with a buckle just might be on my Christmas wish list!

12.  What I’m Doing This Weekend …

Soccer … again.  🙂  But it’s the last game of the season, so it will be bittersweet for sure.  I’m also trying to decide which local pumpkin patch to take the kids to on Saturday.  Which is your Austin area favorite?

13.  What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month …

Thanksgiving!  Plus, we’re heading on a little trip to San Francisco.  I love showing some of my favorite cities to my kids, and I’m almost giddy inside imagining Foster’s face when we see the Golden Gate Bridge up close.  He’s going to freak out!

14.  What Else Is New …

As I mentioned earlier, the month of November will be huge for the website.  I just cannot wait to tell you all about it next week.

15.  Bonus Question:  What is my favorite Thanksgiving food …

I can’t pick just one.  I love being able to put a little bit of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and cranberry sauce all on one fork and taste the mixture of them all in one bite.  Yum!  And speaking of yum … my oven’s timer is going off.  I better go grab those pumpkin muffins from the oven!

That’s it for me today!  Don’t forget to sign up for the Four Points Mom Weekly Wrap-up Email that shows up in your inbox once a week.  This way you’ll be able to quickly review snippets from last week’s posts to see if you missed one.

Have a fantastic day!
