Austin Fall Family Events Calendar Update

 

If you’re like me, you are SUPER EXCITED about fall weather and activities.  Below I’ve compiled some of the popular fall activities coming up in the greater Austin area.  We have so many options around to get our fill of pumpkins, hay rides, and farm animals.  Be sure to add comments below if you’ve already been to one of these and let us know your thoughts.

Month-Long Fall Activities in Greater Austin Area

 

Harvest of Fall Fun at Sweet Berry Farm

1801 FM 1980, Marble Falls, Texas 78654

September 23rd through November 5th, closed all Wednesdays 

Hours: Sunday 1 – 5 and all other days except Wednesday 8:30 – 5:30

 

 

Admission is free at Harvest of Fall Fun, but you will need to pay for the various activities offered and if you’d like to buy pumpkins and gourds.  Activities include hayrides, candy corn kid maze, pumpkin painting, crow stuffing, picking your own flowers, sand art, a barrel train, a bounce house, the “Texas” maze, and more.

 

 

On the weekends you can also enjoy horse rides and eat from the Pumpkin Grill which serves grilled corn, hot dogs, PB & J sandwiches, drinks and chips.

 

 

*Only cash and check are accepted, but you will find an ATM on site.

October Farm Fun at Elgin CHRISTmas Tree Farm

Starting October 6th

Monday – Thursday 10 am – 2 pm; Friday and Saturday 10 am – 5:30 pm; Sunday 12 pm – 5:30 pm

Elgin CHRISTmas Tree Farm’s mission in October is to provide families with an affordable opportunity to spend time together outside having fun. It is easy to spend most of a day playing with your family on the farm. The pictures taken and shared will bring the whole family joy and memories for many years to come.

Admission $7 – (2 yrs+)
You can get one free child admission by signing up for the newsletter on the website.

Your ticket gets you access to 3 mazes, long hayride, play areas, animals to visit, and child admission includes a mini pumpkin to decorate, loads of fun, photo/selfie ops.

 

There are additional pumpkins to purchase as well as shopping opportunities at the Cottage and Barn Store.

 

 

Foster and I went to Elgin CHRISTmas Tree Farm a couple years ago and we really enjoyed it.

 

 

Barton Hill Farms – NEWLY ADDED!

1115 FM 969, Bastrop, Texas 78602

Hours: Saturdays 10 am – 8 pm, Sundays 10 am – 6 pm (last admission 45 minutes prior to close)

I can’t believe I left this Austin area staple to the fall events scene out last week.

Barton Hill Farms has a 4-acre pumpkin patch, 4-acre corn cornfield, farm animals, and more than 30 exciting family activities.  Plus, there’s live music, BBQ, Tex-Mex, beer and wine and more!  New this year, there’s a little bee train, rubber duck races, a sporting ball toss arcade, and tug-o-war games, and more.

 

Tickets are required for ages 3 and up and are $14 at the gate or $13 if purchased online.

 

The Jersey Barnyard – NEWLY ADDED!

3117 State Highway 159, LaGrange, Texas 78945

Store Hours:  Monday  – Friday 10 am – 6 pm, Saturday 9 am – 6 pm, Sunday 1 pm – 6 pm

Guided Tour Times : Monday – Saturday 10:30, 12, 2, 4, Sunday 2 & 4

Through October, you can stop by The Jersey Barnyard to purchase pumpkins, squash, gourds, decorative corn and corn stalks.  Free pumpkin painting is available with the purchase of a pumpkin too.  If you’d like a guided tour of the farm the cost is $8 for kids ages 2 – 12 and $10 for adults.  This tour includes feeding animals, milking a cow and a hay ride.  If you’d like a self-guided tour you can do so for $5.

 

Robinson Family Farm – NEWLY ADDED!

3780 White Owl Lane, Temple, Texas 76501

Hours: Through October 29th, Saturdays and Sundays 10 am – 6 pm

 

 

This farm outside of Temple is family owned and offers a pumpkin patch, hayrides, corn and hay maze, kiddie train, and plenty of games and activities.  You can find over 20 menu items at the Food Barn.  Admission is free, but it is suggested that you purchase $10 wristbands to allow unlimited access to all activities and one turn at the pumpkin sand art activity.  Plus, you can purchase pumpkins and gourds that range between $1 and $8.

 

 

Pumpkin Hunt at Evergreen Farms

242 Monkey Road, Elgin, Texas 78621

Every Saturday and Sunday in October

Saturdays 10 am – 5 pm and Sundays 1 pm – 5 pm

Admission is free but you will pay a nominal fee for the various activities offered.  Activities include the Pumpkin Hunt, launcher, maze, pumpkin races, train ride, golf, fishing pond, spinner, hop along ponies, a bounce house, face painting, and fire truck rides.  The Pumpkin Hunt is the premier event, and includes a wagon ride into the Christmas tree fields where mini pumpkins are hidden in the trees.

 

Fall Family Fun Festival at Crowe’s Nest Farm 

10300 Taylor Lane, Manor, Texas 78653

October 7, 14, 21, & 28

Hours: 11 am – 5 pm

 

 

The flyer above lists all of the fun activities, including cow milking demos, farm animals, hayrides, carnival games, and more.

For this festival you pay an entry fee ($9 for adults, $7 for children between 3 and 12, $3 for two-year-olds, and for kiddos under 2 it’s free).

Fall Family Festival & Pumpkin Patch at Proof & Cooper

Hours: Weekdays 4 pm – 9 pm and weekends 12 pm – 9 pm

 

This is another pumpkin patch that I hadn’t heard of until this year.  Not only is there a a pumpkin patch and restaurant to enjoy during the week, but there are special events each weekend in October.

 

October 7 – 8:  Face painting from noon – 5 pm

October 14 – 15:  Kids concert featuring Hootie the Magician at 2:15 pm followed by Mr. Will at 3 pm

October 21 – 22:  Pumpkin party -painting and carving from noon – 5 pm

October 28 – 29:  Trick or Treat Party — costumes encouraged and you can enjoy the candy giveaway from noon – 5 pm

 

 

South Texas Maize – NEWLY ADDED!

911 US Highway 90 East, Hondo, Texas 78861

Open through November 26, 2017

Hours: Fridays 6 – 9 pm, Saturdays 10 am – 9 pm, Sundays 12 pm – 5 pm (Hours are when the gate is open but guests can stay an hour after “closing time”)

 

 

 

South Texas Maize is a couple hours away, but it is worth the drive to get lost in a REAL 7-acre corn maze.  You’ll also entertain the family with two jumping pillows, a giant slide, hayrides, a train, campfires, lots to eat, and weekend entertainment.  Ticket prices are $15 plus tax for everyone between 3 and 64, $10 for those over 65, and children 2 and under are free.

 

Cross Plants and Produce – NEWLY ADDED!

705 N. Old Highway 81, Kyle, Texas 78640

Hours: Open through October 31st (until they run out of pumpkins) Tuesday – Sunday 10 am – 6 pm

Your kids will enjoy visiting their animals, painting pumpkins, and having fun in their play area.

 

Sweet Eats Farm – NEWLY ADDED!

14400 E. State Highway 29, Georgetown, Texas 78626

Hours: Weekends 9 am – 6 pm

 

 

Along with the pumpkin patch, your kids will enjoy pony rides, face painting, petting zoo, barrel cars, hay maze, jump pad, treasure mountain, obstacle course, swings, and more.  Sweet Eats Farm will have live music every weekend day through the rest of the month.  Admission is $12 per child, $10 per adult and kids under 2 are free.

Pflugerville Pfall Chili Pfest

This fall festival offers tons of fun for you and your family, including some unique activities like a chili tasting, car show, and jalapeño eating contest.

I had never heard of it before, but I stumbled upon the website and am trying to figure out how to fit it into our schedules.  The website has a video that makes me think we would love it (and so would you)!

Kids’ Zone:  Noon – 5 pm

Food and Crafts: Noon – 5 pm

Fall Family Fun Day at The Rusty Mule

2 pm – 5 pm

 

This Family Fall Fun Day includes food trucks, cold drinks and live music.  Plus, the kids will enjoy the playscape, face painter, snow cones, and pumpkin crafts.  And there’s shopping!

Several of my friends (including many of you guys) have checked that you’re attending or interested in this festival this year.  I’ve never heard of it before now, so you’ll have to chime in with comments as to why you’re excited about it.

 

 

Fable Fest Festival

Saturday, October 28

11 am – 5 pm

 

I don’t know much about this festival, but it might be a fun way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon.  The kids will enjoy the inflatables, petting zoo and pony rides and you will all enjoy the live music, food vendors and even theatrical performances.

 

Last Straw Fest at UMLAUF

UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum, 605 Robert E. Lee Rd, Austin, Texas 78704

Sunday, October 29

10 am – 4 pm

This day-long festival includes pumpkin carving, fall-themed family activities, food trucks, music, and more.  Even better, the event is free (although donations are accepted).

Your kids will also enjoy trick-or-treating around the garden at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm as well as music by DJ Gastby from 12 pm – 4 pm.
