Friday Favorites with Four Points Mom (9-15-2017)

And we’ve made it to Friday!

Usually I’m excited on Fridays.  Today I’m just relieved because lately this meme describes me:

Seriously.  Last night I realized I showered three times that day.  No, I didn’t work out actually because I was too sore from Wednesday’s workout.  But, I just felt like I needed to reboot three separate times.  Although we have somewhat of a busy weekend, we will be resting and recouping every chance we get.  It sounds amazing.

Although this week has been a bit rough, I do have some favorites to share with you.  So, let’s get to it.

Saturday Morning Fun

Last Saturday both kids were up at the crack of dawn so I decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and get out of the house.  My husband worked all weekend and I wanted to tire these kiddos out in hopes of good naps.   Our first stop was Angel Donuts & Treats.

Angel Donuts & treats

We love this donut shop which is right next to Moviehouse.  They have the most beautiful donuts.

And they taste great too!

Plus, they have a huge selection of cake balls and offer breakfast tacos and kolaches.

Unlike most donut shops, they also have a cappuccino machine.  Hello – where else can you enjoy a legit latte while choosing from hundreds of donuts and treats?  Well, I guess you can do this at Cups and Cones too (which I wrote about earlier this summer) but you can’t find cake balls there.  😉

I’ll be writing a full post about Angel Donuts & Treats soon because I love to share with you my recommendations about local kid-friendly businesses.  Until the new post is up you can find Angel Donuts & Treats along with other local sweet spots in my Austin Desserts and Treats Resource Page.

After donuts, we headed to The Thinkery.

The Thinkery

Becoming members at The Thinkery was one of the best decisions our family has made.  Although it seems SO FAR AWAY, it really isn’t.  Especially since we usually go on weekend mornings and traffic is light then.  It takes us about 25 minutes.  That’s within that toddler-friendly drive zone!

Before heading in to The Thinkery, we stopped by Mueller Lake Park’s playground (which is right across the street).  This playground offers everything for big and little kids, including the lochness monster!

My kids had a blast working off those donuts.  And So did I … slowly walking around while watching them burn calories counts too, right?

I’ll be writing a blog post about the playground and Thinkery soon, but I will caution you that the playground was packed on Saturday morning around 9:30!  Absolutely packed!  I was in full-blown panic mode several times thinking one of my kids was kidnapped a few times because it’s a large (albeit somewhat confined) space and I kept losing sight of them.  If you head there, increase your ratios by adding another adult to the party.  1:2 wasn’t cutting it for me!

After enjoying the sunshine, we headed across the street for some Thinkery fun.  We started with Parker painting her family.  She always includes the four of us plus a baby.  Keep dreaming sweet girl …

While Parker painted, Foster built a car.

Both of these activity choices sum up kids’ personality so well.  My little right-brained girl and left-brained boy.

We also spent some time glowing in the dark.

So fun!  Like I said, I’ll be writing an entire post on The Thinkery because it truly is amazing.

Hot Police Officers

Okay, just writing that heading made me laugh out loud.  If you haven’t seen the viral post about the Gainesville Police Officers, you have to go to the Facebook post right now.  Seriously.  Go!  And read all of the comments.  My friend, Lacy, knew I needed a laugh the other night (because remember this week has been ROUGH) and she sent me the link.  It popped up on my phone while I was brushing my teeth.  I literally sat there with my toothbrush in my mouth for 10 minutes cry-laughing.  It was a horrible sight – I’m sure!

The police department is now discouraging women from calling the department for fake emergencies just to get a glimpse of these guys.  LOL!

Go to the Facebook link and read the comments on the police department’s post.  Some women are hysterical!

CASA Superhero Run

CASA Superhero Run 2017

We are SO excited to support the wonderful work of CASA of Travis County this weekend by running in their annual Superhero Run.  I encourage you all to sign up and get out your favorite superhero gear.  Thanks to my friend, Emily, all four of us will have awesome costumes.  I can’t wait to share the photos from the event with you next week!

Okay, that’s it from me today.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
