Austin Family Events Calendar Update: September Edition

Austin Family Events Calendar Update: September Edition

Hello everyone!

I don’t know about you, but I’m SUPER excited that September is just around the corner.  The last days of August always seem to drag.  The Austin heat is no joke, my kiddos are starting to drive each other (and me) crazy from the lack of structure, and work is usually pretty busy.  But, just writing this post has me in a great mood because …

Pumpkin spice lattes will be here in a matter of days!

2-11 mile all female paddle event benefiting positive mental wellness impact for first responders through Foundation 1023.

Woohoo!  Hmmm … I might need to go and buy a can of RediWhip right this moment …  Yum.

Back on topic … today I’m going to highlight my Austin Family Events Calendar.  Did you even know the website had an events calendar?  Well, if you didn’t, now you do.  I try to keep the calendar updated with upcoming fun family-friendly events (some one-time events, some weekly, some monthly, etc.).  One of my goals with Four Points Mom is to become “the” resource moms in the Austin area turn to when thinking of fun things to do with their kids.  So, bookmark the site and the Austin Family Events Calendar and keep checking back in!

Each month I’ll do a post like this one in which I’ll highlight my favorite events for the upcoming month.  And, as always, please forward me any events you’d like included.

My 5 Favorite September Events

September 7:  GirlStart STEM Center Presents Starry Nights

GirlStart starry Nights

This activity isn’t just for girls, so bring your whole family and enjoy time in the Stem Studio and Mini-Planetarium, learning about astronomy through fun hands-on activities.  Take advantage of your child’s enthusiasm over last week’s eclipse and maintain that excitement about science!  Growing up, I didn’t excel in science and I can only imagine if I had awesome programs like this one around to get me interested in the topic.

September 9:  Saturday Night Concert Series at Hill Country Galleria

We’re in Austin, so we have to indulge in a little live music from time to time.  Do so September 9th after some shopping and dinner at the Hill Country Galleria.  Warren Hood will be playing.  Bring a blanket and lounge on the grassy lawn with the entire family.

September 16:  Fit Kids Fest

This is a new annual event being held at the Long Center downtown, and it sounds like a ton of fun.  Plus, it’s FREE!  You can bring your kids to enjoy healthy activities, including yoga, trampolines, rock climbing walls, obstacle courses and more.

September 17:  CASA Superhero Run

CASA Superhero Run 2017

CASA is one of my favorite charities to support.  The support CASA provides to children in the child protective services system literally changes lives.  Join me and my family as we dress up in our favorite superhero gear (hmmm … I’m still deciding who I want to be … which women superhero dresses appropriately for a 30-something-year-old mom?).  You won’t want to miss this fun event!

September 17:  Annual Austin Museum Day

Bullock Museum

After the CASA Superhero Run, grab some breakfast and then head out to your favorite Austin museum for FREE!  Every year Austin area museums participate in a city-wide celebration of art, culture, history, music, nature, and science.  Which one will you visit?

These are just a few of the upcoming events.  Check out the Austin Family Events Calendar to see what else is going on this month and share which ones you’re excited below!
